Rathin Kanji
RATHIN KANJI, Kolkata based Indian artist was born in 1970.
He was Visiting Research Fellow (Fulbright Scholar) School of Art & Design, University of Michigan USA in 2004, did the Post-Graduation in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University India in 2002; Graduation in Painting from M.M.K.College of Visual Art, Gulbarga University, Karnataka 2000. Received Fulbright Fellowship 2003-2004, USA; Vermont Residency Fellowship, USA in 2004; H.K.Kejriwal Fellowship, Bangalore 2001; Junior Research Fellowship from Govt. of India in 1998-2000.
Kanji did solo exhibitions at Aicon Gallery New York & Palo Alto, Gallery Sincresis, Florence; Gallery Threshold New Delhi, Gallery Sumukha Bangalore, ArtWorld, Chennai; Alliance Francaise Hyderabad & Chandigarh India, Warren Robbins Gallery Ann Arbor USA, Holiday Inn Bangkok, among others, and he worked in a New Media (Installation project) organized by CIMA Art Gallery, Kolkata. He has participated in group exhibitions in India, USA, Hong Kong, Bangkok, UK, Singapore, Romania, Spain, Greece, Germany, Morocco, Austria, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Argentina, Abu Dhabi, Bolivia, Namibia, Dubai, Australia, Italy and France.
He has exhibited in International Art Fair in Dubai, Rome, New York, Miami, Hong Kong and Paris, participated in Artist-in-residence programs in USA, Romania, Greece, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Poland.
Kanji’s painting has been Auctioned in Sotheby’s New York; Christie’s London; Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong. The Times London published his interview in 2007. The Library of Congress, Washington DC, USA and The National Library, Australia has his catalogue in their archive.
His paintings are in the collection of Museum of Art, Michigan, USA; Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong; Museum of Bengal Modern Art, Kolkata; Benson & Hedges; Bank of America, London among others.
